Very disappointed to receive a call from the granite company at 5pm tonight, who are due to fit my kitchen worktops tomorrow, to tell me that they cannot obtain from any UK supplier a hole saw for granite of 124mm to flush fit this pop up socket. I understand they spoke to you for advice on where to get a saw and you could not help. I had to make a decision on the spot to go with non flush fit or wait weeks (and pay) for a custom saw to be ordered from China. Gutted that I paid the high price for this premium product that now won't deliver on it's flush fit promise due to non standard size. There is no indication in the description that this may be an issue.
Response from BPF Websales
Thanks for your positive review but I'm sorry to hear about the issue with the granite company. It's true, that the holesaws we sell on our site are really only for timber worktops but I'm very surprised to hear your granite company don't have cutters to put holes in their own material.
Generally in our experience with granite companies, they simply CNC the holes at the mill before installation but even if that isn't possible for whatever reason, the majority of granite people we deal with, simply cut the holes when they're templating the worktop on site.
We're not granite experts unfortunately so we can't speak for every case, but I can only assume just because I've never heard of this situation arising before - that the majority of these granite people have their own adjustable cutting equipment to hand, on site.
I've personally got 2 of these units installed in my own kitchen which the granite company cut holes for on site which was standard practice I'm told, so I would respectfully suggest you push this further with them just in case that's an option - because the vast majority of these sockets do go into granite or similar material and nobody has ever had an issue before with having holes cut, to my knowledge.
Your're right in that a 124mm hole isn't standard, which using the flush fit adaptor would require but as you imply, 100 +1mm/-0mm would also work if you don't want the flush effect - but a flush fitting unit will look far better and give you a 'clean lines' look that really will set off the unit!
Really the hole saw we offer is only on the website for domestic customers who want to retro fit into an existing kitchen, so it's not normally required or warranted for professional tradesmen.
